Iranian activist, in 2008 she became vice-president of the DHRC, Defenders of Human Rights Center, an organisation that defended political prisoners and prisoners of conscience in legal proceedings. Narges Mohammadi has dedicated her life to the struggle for human rights in Iran against the oppression of the Iranian theocracy. She opposed the death sentences ordered, even against minors, by the regime and denounced the judicial officers responsible for torture. She has been entering and leaving prisons since the 1990s. Her last arrest was on April 21, 2022, when she was sentenced to serve eight years in prison for alleged crimes against Iran's national security. On October 6, 2023, she received the Nobel Peace Prize 'for her struggle against the oppression of women in Iran and for promoting human rights and freedom for all'. A plaque will be dedicated to Narges Mohammadi at the Milan Garden of the Righteous Worldwide on March 6, 2024.
