On 24 January 2003, the Garden of the Righteous Worldwide was inaugurated in Milan, in the large green area of Monte Stella.
The Garden of the Righteous is a place for dialogue and education to personal responsibility that honours the women and men who, in every part of the world, have helped the victims of genocide, persecution and totalitarian regimes. It teaches how to recognise the beauty of the good person and shows that every human being has the potential to act against injustice or crimes against humanity.
The activities of this place gave rise to the European Day of the Righteous on 6 March, which became a civil solemnity in Italy in 2017.
