Dictatorships can use sports to convey racist messages regarding the superiority of a
given race or nation and can become an instrument of ideological propaganda for
totalitarian regimes. But sports can also express the moral richness of a democratic
society that values equality within competitions and whose goal anchors to the
ennoblement of individual or collective performance in a spirit of friendship.
As history has taught, sometimes sport can save the world because the behavior of Righteous athletes can positively influence democratic life in our societies.
