The Righteous against the Genocide in Guatemala

Genocide in Guatemala means the extermination of the Mayan and indigenous population of the country in the 1980s at the hands of the army led by dictator Efrain Rios Montt.

The violence affected men, women, and children indiscriminately.

In the years following the extermination, there have been Righteous who have fought, despite threats and violence, for the genocide to be recognized and to provide the victims with justice and truth.

Gariwo has collected some of these stories.
