On September 26, 2023, at the Garden of the Righteous in Warsaw, the ceremony honoring the memory of the new Righteous took place. The new Righteous honored are: Alfreda "Noncia" Markowska, who during the Porrajmos risked her life to save the largest number of Roma and Jewish children, Gareth Jones, the Welsh journalist who denounced the Holodomor, and Sergei Adamovic Kovalev, one of the most important human rights defenders in the Soviet Union and Russia.

The ceremony was attended by citizens, institutions, student delegations, representatives for the Righteous chosen and a delegation of the Gariwo Foundation and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation.

After the speech of the deputy mayor of Warsaw, representatives of the Righteous intervened: the Polish photographer Tomasz Kizny in memory of Kovalev, the representative of the Polish Roma, great-grandson of Alfreda Markowska, and the secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy who, despite the currently tense relations between the two nations, wanted to thank "Poles, British, Americans and Italians" for the help given to the Ukrainian people.

Francesco Cataluccio, editorial manager of Gariwo, held a speech on behalf of Fondazione Gariwo remembering Gareth Jones and at the end Jozef Wancer, member of the Committee of the Garden of the Righteous in Warsaw, concluded addressing the youngest attendeding the ceremony and recalling that the Garden and the trees are "for them to remember and even play."
