On March 17th, the first Garden of the Righteous in Verona was established in the branch school of Fracastoro High School.

The students of the fifth year attended a conference named “The charm of good”, which was regularly interrupted by the mezzosoprano Syuzanna Hakobyan.

The first Righteous to be honored in the Garden have been Azucena Villafoir, who denounced the conditions of the Argentinian desaparecidos with her “Madres de Plaza de Mayo” movement, and Armin Wegner, a German writer who was in exile for denouncing the Armenian genocide and opposing Nazism. During the initiative there was also a remembrance of Felice Sena, a vice sergeant in Verona’s police headquarter who saved, showing great bravery, hundreds of Jews from the deportations ordered by Nazists during World War II.
