On May 25, 2021, the Garden of the Righteous of Marcon was inaugurated at the school "GF. Malipiero". The Garden is a precious space of reflection and memory for the city of Marcon.
The Headmaster Manuela Sartorato, Mayor Matteo Romanello, the President of the Council Francesco Marcadalli, and the Councilor for Culture Luigi Bona all attended the inauguration ceremony. The secondary school students that during the year have engaged in research work on the stories of the Righteous, getting involved in various initiatives promoted by Gariwo, also attended the inauguration.
The first trees were dedicated to three Righteous of sport: Luz Long, Peter Norman, and Gino Bartali. The choice, made by the students, sparked from the desire to give importance, in a historical moment of helplessness and distrust such as the pandemic, to the lesson of the Righteous of Sport. For young people, they are examples of courage and responsibility.
The most intense moments of the ceremony were the readings of texts and poems written by the students and accompanied by music played by the school orchestra.
