On 20th September 2009, the mayor of Molino dei Torti Candido Meardi has named a square with a garden and a memorial stone after Giacomo Gorrini, italian diplomat in Trebisonda, who announced to the world the genocide that was taking place in Armenia.
Authorities, the plenipotentiary ambassador of the Replublic of Armenia Rouben Karapetian and the honorary consul of Armenia Pietro Kuciukian attended the ceremony.
