Reconstructed with difficulty after the Second World War by the few Jews that had escaped or survived deportation to Auschwitz, today Thessaloniki’s Jewish Community has a head Rabbi and three synagogues, a primary school and a play school, a summer camp for older students and a rest home for the elderly. In addition, it manages the Jewish Museum and the new Hebrew cemetery, founded after the war and containing some valuable gravestones from the ancient burial ground in the centre of the city, destroyed by the Nazis, now the site of the large university named after Aristotle.


Multimedia productions set up to present characters, stories, places, events which marked the history of Europe and its neighbouring regions.

Wefor is our Website dedicated to the figures of moral resistance against totalitarianism. The virtual Gardens of Europe’s Righteous and the teaching section YouFor are the core of this project realized by Gariwo, the forest of the Righteous. Through the establishment of the European Day of the Righteous by the Brussels Parliament, Wefor has received its highest recognition.
