Inscribed in the World Heritage list since 1979 it is run by a Foundation which has the task of making the symbol place of Nazi crimes visible to everybody. Is shows all structures of the extermination camp (barracks, towers, crematoria), furthermore it collects the objects which were seized from the prisoners, both those assigned to forced labour and those immediately killed in the gas chambers. Particular importance is attached to the objects of daily life in Auschwitz, some of which bear the witness of the inmates’ attempt to keep their dignity. In the end, the Museum’s collection includes the artistic testimony of life in the camp and in the Holocaust.

The virtual Gardens of Europe’s Righteous and the teaching section YouFor are the core of this project realized by Gariwo, the forest of the Righteous. Through the establishment of the European Day of the Righteous by the Brussels Parliament, Wefor has received its highest recognition.
