Writer Ernesto Sabato passed away at his Buenos Aires home at age 99. During the Alfonsìn government he founded and presided the Comisión Nacional sobre la Desaparición de Personas dealing with the inquiry and reports about the missing people.

Thanks to his commitment it was possible to start trials in Argentina and in 1984 Sabato filed the CONADEP report which for the first time collected the pieces of testimony about the crimes perpetrated by the Argentinian regime.
