Mr. Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan,

Madams, Sirs, Dear Friends,

Dear Gabriele !

I am touched by your invitation because the topic of this talks reminds me a lot of things.

Actually, since the events of January 2015 and those of November in Paris, have been persuaded that the solution cannot arise but from dialogue.

We have to move a step toward each other, meet, talk to each other, accept our differences and even let ourselves be enriched by them... because at any rate we have to live together.

Who wishes not to be able to go out in the street anymore? Who wishes to see his or her children die before his or her eyes? No one!

Humanity must grow up and we all have to give our help.

I was born in Mali into a Muslim family that taught me about respect of the other, regardless his or her religion or faith, to live together, and this is our wealth.

This is why on the day of the attack I thought of what my mother told me, and I rescued human lives, but I do not consider myself as a hero.

I really care about thanking the organization of the Garden of the Righteous that is honouring us and showing us the way.

In facts this is the second time I come to this Italian region and thus I am saying hello to all students of the school Pertini of Vercelli and above all I shall thank Carolina, Angela and Patrizia!

I have also had the occasion to meet with different communities that have invited me to the United States. I was invited by the League of Human Rights (Ligue des droits de l'Homme) in France. To be brief, I am very sensitive to these expression of particular benevolence.

But it is above all to young people that I shall express my thoughts. I believe young people do not want a bloody, exhausted, unlivable earth.

It is our duty to explain them we also rely on them to make it a hospitable place.

And I shall turn myself to the young from all countries and continents, above all from Africa where life is difficult for some people and the temptation of violence lures.

The sharing of wealth, education, professional training, justice, jobs for all.. these are the values that we shall earnestly work for to ensure a future to this youth and prevent it from carrying the burden of unemployment and enter radicalization, which leads to death.
