Gariwo visited the Garden of Rescuers in Neve Shalom - Wahat al Salam ("Oasis of Peace" in Hebrew and Arabic), a village in Israel that is inhabited by Palestinian Arabs and Israeli Jews practicing non-violence and peaceful coexistence. The Garden was inaugurated in 2015 and in 2021 it has been renovated with development works that made this place more accessible by tourists and students, thanks also to the construction of a small amphitheater.
Manuela Rippo, manager of the Gardens of the Righteous network in Italy and in the world, went to visit the Village and, during the trip, she met the Mayor of the Village, Rita Boulos; Samah Salaime, director of the Communication and Development Office; Einat Betsalel, director of the Pluralist Spiritual Center; Dyana Shaloufi Rizek, head of the art gallery of the Village; Sagi Frish, of the School for Peace and professor Yair Auron.
The trip was an opportunity to consolidate the collaboration between Gariwo Foundation and the Village of Neve Shalom - Wahat al Salam, as well as the occasion to discuss future objectives and upcoming projects to implement the Garden's activities.
The Italian Association Friends of Neve Shalom Wahat al Salam (oasidipace.org) supports the Village from Italy and cooperates with Gariwo in spreading the value of the educational message of its Garden.
