The students, the teachers and the nephew of Gino Bartali, Gioia Bartali, attended te ceremony. She shared her stories and anecdotes about the grandfather, a common man who believed in doing the right thing without the need to tell people. Charlotte Fullenbaum, rescued from the Virgilis, met the students online and shared a video message from Los Angeles during the opening ceremony.
The celebration was enriched by the reading of texts from Gabriele Nissim, President of Gariwo, to the poetess Halina Birenbaum, and the lyric poetry "On Living" from Nazim Hikmet.
The two clay plaques were made by by the students of the High School of Art as well as the tree murales on a wall of the school building, designed by the student Joè Rossetti.
