Milan, March 15, 2018 - In the heart of Milan Chinatown, a square has been dedicated, at the intersection of Via Paolo Sarpi and Via Paolo Lomazzo, to Ho Feng Shan, the Chinese consul in Vienna who, during the Nazi period, expatriated thousands of Jewish citizens to Shanghai, granting them the visas. A plaque has been dedicated to him in the Garden of the Righteous of Monte Stella, at the presence of the mayor Giuseppe Sala.
In his speech for the inauguration, the Councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno underlined the importance of the Chinese community in Milan, also recalling the "chain of solidarity that this set up on the occasion of the Amatrice earthquake". In the presence of Ho Manli, daughter of Ho Feng Shan, Luca Sheng Song, president of Uniic, the Italian Entrepreneurs Union of China, who sent the request for this recognition to the Municipality, and Gabriele Nissim, president of Gariwo.
