The voice from Tunis

Lina Ben Mhenni, blogger of the Jasmine Revolution

Lina is a 27-year old assistant lecturer who had the courage to document revolt in Tunisia through her Website.

Her blog, A Tunisian Girl, was one of the main sources for journalists. Lina says: At the beginning "I dealt with culture, art, literature. But in 2008, when there were the first signals of a sweeping unrest in the Country with protests, clashes and arrests, I decided to deal with human rights, freedom of speech, women's and students' rights".

Her blog was switched off, censored. Her home was searched, her computers and dvds seized. Lina says: "When you see the corpses of youths of your age you forget about everything and you don't think about your safety anylonger. You would only like to do everything in your power to stop the massacre".
