22 years after the great fire which in the night of 25-26 August 1993 destroyed the building on the Miliatcha, the reconstruction of the Vijesnica (biblioteca) is accomplished. The shelling of the building caused the destruction of nearly 2 million books, articles and magazines, and became the symbolic event of the conflict. A nationalistic aggression war demanded the deletion of the traces of a common history, like the library, or like the famous Mostar bridge. Now the Vijesnica, also thanks to European funding, has reopened, with a lights show that retraced the history of this building erected in 1896.
