Garden of Riace

On August 2, 2025, the Garden of the Righteous in Riace will be inaugurated. The first tree, an olive tree, symbol of peace and rebirth, is dedicated to the Righteous who welcomed refugees and marks the beginning of a garden spread throughout the streets of the Global Village, a place known for its model of widespread hospitality that promotes peace, dialogue between different cultures and needs. The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Domenico Lucano, the head of the education office of the Gariwo Foundation Sabrina Di Carlo, the representative of the Garden of Lampedusa and Vito Fiorino, some representatives of local associations and Spostiamo mari e monti aps, which has been organizing an annual summer camp for young people since 20202, to learn about and support the experience of the Global Village of Riace and who strongly collaborated in the creation of the Garden.
