The Garden of the Righteous of Opera was inaugurated on March 6, 2019. The initiative was promoted by the Comprehensive Institute "D. Alighieri", with the patronage of the Municipal Administration. The first tree planted was dedicated to Wangari Muta Maathai, Kenyan activist and environmentalist, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2004.

The celebrations continued with the screening of the documentary One by Anne de Corbuccia, the exhibition of three of her photographs and the works carried out by the students of the second and third classes of the school "D. Alighieri" as part of the project "Seminiamo Speranze". The evening was enriched by a series of reflections on climate change, on the Righteous and on human rights and by the musical Interludes of the school's choir.
