The Park of Memory at the "Leonardo da Vinci" Institute of Maccarese - Fiumicino (Rome) was inaugurated on 29 January 2008 as a sign of the importance of recognizing them in the values of solidarity, justice and respect for human rights.
The project, as said by the School Director Antonella Maucioni, is born from the consideration of the need to avoid limited reflection and study of the Shoah to limited days and the awareness of the importance of establishing a place of memory - to make the knowledge of historical facts a concrete weapon for youth civilian education.
By pursuing this goal, the students worked in class on the topic of the Righteous guided by the teachers who also contributed to organizing events (exhibitions, reflection moments with testimonies) beyond school time.
The olive trres of the Park of Memories are also giving a concrete "fruit of the memory": the Oil of the Righteous (whose proceeds will go to charity). In the corridor on the ground floor of the Institute, a permanent exhibition on the Righteous Among Nations and that on the first honoured Jan Karski.
