Several schools in Fiumicino (Rm) celebrated all together the 10th anniversary of the European Day of the Righteous and created a spread Garden of the Righteous involving: the School IC Colombo in Fiumicino as leader of the project, the school I.I.S. Paolo Baffi, and the secondary school in Militi street in Fiumicino.
The opening ceremony was held on March 7, 2022. The students and the teachers planted olive trees to honor: the Journalist Ilaria Alpi and Peppino Impastato, who dedicated his entire life to fight against the Mafia. The students also remembered David Sassoli, former President of the European Parliament recently died and dedicated a tree to his memory.
During the ceremony the students red poetries and showed the artworks they realized. Some students also remembered the Russian journalist Anna Stepanovna Politkovskaya and dedicated her a tree.
