Cisterna

The first of October 2019, in the heart of the municipal garden of Cisterna was inaugurated the Garden of the Righteous.
At the proposal of the CIF (Italian Women's Centre) of Cisterna in collaboration with the Municipality of Cisterna di Latina, a 12-year-old cedar of Lebanon, offered by the De Cristofaro Nursery, has been planted and dedicated to Renata Fonte, Councillor for Culture and Public Education of the City of Nardò, assassinated in 1984 for having wanted to defend the natural park of Porto Selvaggio against land subdivision and building speculation.

The event was opened by the orchestra of the Volpi-Monda school on the notes of the Mameli's hymn, then the planting of the cedar and the dedication to Renata Fonte took place, followed by the hymn to Joy and the conference "Protection of environmental beauty" in the Sala Zuccari, while in the Mimosa Gallery was held the exhibition "Ninfa dignus amore locus" by the artist Patrizio Marafini.

On this occasion, the Deputy Mayor Vittorio Sambucci, the Councillor for Education Patrizia Capitani, the Regional Vice President CIF Antonella Bellardini, the Ambassador Gariwo Zaccaria Gallo, the Gariwo contact person didactic section Andreina Borgh, the President CIF Cisterna Patrizia Pochesci, the representative of the Caetani Foundation Lauro Marchetti, the Hon. Serena Pellegrino, Dr. Carla Vaudo, and the artist Patrizio Marafini were present.

"Planting a tree and dedicating it to Renata Fonte, is doubly important - said the Deputy Mayor Sambucci and the Councillor Capitani - In addition to giving credit to his battle for the environment, enriches our garden with a tree becoming a message of the future for the younger generations".
