On 27 January 2003 the Garden of the Righteous of Catania was inaugurated in the green area of Monte Po. Three oaks were planted in honor of Giovanni Palatucci, Giorgio Perlasca and the sicilian Calogero Marrone. Afterwards, four trees were planted in honor of Annalena Tonelli, Susanna Gaon, Carlo Urbani and Ayse Nur Zarakolu.
Over the years the Garden was neglected and gradually degraded. On June 2013, after Gariwo and Foundation Giorgio Perlasca complained about that, the city of Catania chose to move the commemorative stones to Park Gioeni, the greatest park in town.
