Castellazzo

On 15 September 2019 was inaugurated the Garden of the Righteous of Castellazzo, in the province of Reggio Emilia.

The project was born on the initiative of the young people of the Pastoral Unit "Beata Vergine della Neve", who wanted to create even in their areas a small paradise of “green” justice. It is a Garden dedicated to the Righteous, women and men who have done good by saving human lives, have fought for human rights during the genocide and have defended the dignity of people refusing to bend to totalitarianism and discrimination between human beings.

«We have chosen to "put" in this Garden, people who are right every day, people who perform great actions or even small gestures of good. We want to show our communities that despite at this time, there seems to be no one left willing to lend a hand to help others, there are still right people, who offer their help to anyone in need, without asking for recognition».

There are four native trees, offered by A&A Mazzini, planted in the fruit park behind the Church, because there are four figures chosen as Righteous, to whom each tree is dedicated. Pietro Bartolo, doctor from Lampedusa who deals with the first aid of the landings; Nasrin Sotoudeh, Iranian lawyer and human rights activist, who since the 13 June 2018 has been locked up in Evin prison, in Tehran, for having taken on the defense of an activist friend and other women who, like her, had gone out into the street and protested peacefully against the obligation to wear the veil; Don Tonino Bello, bishop of youth and peace; Don Gigi Guglielmi, Righteous of these lands, who gave so much to the diocese and to Pastoral Unity, always with a missionary look and attentive to the least.

In Castellazzo "there is a tree for every man who has chosen the good".
