Discover the people honoured in the Garden

The first Garden of the Righteous in Umbria was inaugurated in Assisi on 6 March 2015, European Day of the Righteous. The initiative was organized by Diocese of Assisi - Nocera Umbra - Gualdo Tadino, the Opera Casa Papa Giovanni, the District of Assisi and the Italy-Israel Association of Perugia, in collaboration with Gariwo.

The ceremony, that was dedicated to the "Righteous of the Peace", was attended by Bishop Monsignor Domenico Sorrentino, the mayor Claudio Ricci, the President of the Italy-Israel Association of Perugia Alberto Krachmalnicoff, Salvatore Pennisi from Gariwo and the assessor Serena Morosi.

The inauguration was led by Marina Rosati, the curator of the Museum Of Memory of Assisi.

The Garden of the Righteous of Assisi

On 6 March 2015, European Day of the Righteous, the city of Assisi will enter Gariwo's international network with its own Garden of the Righteous, whose physical center will be the courtyard of the Bishop's palace, and will grow all along with true and symbolic trees and projects in all the city's territory.
