We are pleased to announce that Gariwo Foundation has officially joined the Alliance Against Genocide, the largest international coalition of organizations committed to preventing genocide and other atrocity crimes. Founded in 2004, the Alliance brings together over 90 entities and NGOs from around the world with the shared goal of countering the most serious human rights violations, promoting remembrance and justice, and taking timely action to stop or prevent mass atrocities.
Among the Alliance’s members are organizations such as Genocide Watch, the Genocide Education Project, the Uyghur Human Rights Project, and various groups active in the Balkans, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The Alliance works through continuous monitoring of at-risk situations, advocacy towards international institutions, and the promotion of effective prevention policies.
Gariwo’s entry into this prestigious network marks an important step in strengthening the international scope of our mission: honoring the Righteous, educating on individual responsibility, and promoting civic engagement against indifference, discrimination, and hatred. By joining the Alliance Against Genocide, Gariwo further reinforces—just a few months after signing the memorandum of understanding with the UN Office on Genocide Prevention—its global positioning, contributing concretely to the creation of a network of vigilance and action against genocide.
