A series and FIGC with Gariwo to mark Day of the Righteous of the Humanity

Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 in the stadiums, our call to root for the Good

The A-Series League and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) joined the celebrations of the Day of the Righteous of the Humanity of 6 March by welcoming the invitation of Gariwo, the forest of the Righteous, to join the hundreds of initiatives held all over Italy to mark this day, that is recognized by the Italian Parliament as a civil feast.

In the stadiums, before the beginning of the matches of Friday 1, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March, a message recalling the values of respect, responsibility and tolerance was read:

“The A Series League and the FIGC are on the side of Gariwo, the forest of the Righteous, to mark the Day of the Righteous of the Humanity of 6 March. Today we wish to remember the women and men who, all over the world, have taught us to reject hatred and respect all human beings regardless of the colour of their skin, nationality and faith. The Righteous, with the bravery of their deeds, pass on to us a very important message not only for our lives but also for every sporting and agonistic activity. Rooting for the Good makes our love of sport even stronger, as it makes us friendlier and more respectful of the other in every kind of race”, reads out the press release.

In the name of Gariwo, its Chairman Gabriele Nissim thanked the organizations of the football world for their sensitiveness and attention to the theme of the Righteous and invited the representatives of the teams to join the events planned in numerous towns.

“The celebrations will reach their apex in a great concert to be held in the cathedral of Milan on 6 March at 8.45 pm, in the presence of the highest authorities, where we hope will be joined by the managers of Italian football on behalf of the world of sport”, said Mr Nissim. “Our special thanks go to the President of the A Series President, Mr Gaetano Micciché, and the President of FIGC, Gabriele Gravina. We wish to thank dearly also Oscar Buonamano, journalist and publishing director of Carsa Edizioni, who did everything he could to pass on our message to the world of football, thus becoming a Gariwo Ambassador”.
