Annalia Guglielmi, in-depth connoisseur and direct witness to Polish history, tells about the ceremony for the Righteous held on 27 April in Warsaw. The joy to celebrate the moral opponents to totalitarianism and genocide worldwide melted with the sorrow for the passing away of a Righteous Among the Nations, a great civil figure for Poland and the world.
Seizing the occasion of the inauguration of the Garden of the Righteous in Warsaw on 5 June 2014, we discussed the creation and importance of this project with Piotr Jakubowski, director of the House of History Meetings in Warsaw.
Journalist and Jewish activist from Poland, Konstanty Gebert is one of the most important war reporters of various Polish dailies. In 1978 he was one of the main organizers of the so-called Flying university, a secret high education institution teaching the people on various subjects forbidden by the Polish Communist regime. In 1980 he joined the Solidarnosc Union.
Our envoy in Poland Annalia Guglielmi announced the wonderful result of her cooperation with prominent figures of politics and culture in Warsaw: on second annual European Day of the Righteous the creation of the Garden of the Righteous of the Polish capital is to be announced. Inauguration will take place on next 5 June.
