The city of Turin joins EU Day of the Righteous

fot the sake of Good and responsibility

Turin City Hall gave its official support to the European Day of the Righteous, set up by the European Parliament upon Gariwo proposal to remember the men and women who so bravely rescued and defended the persecuted during genocide cases and totalitarianism.

"This Day - explained Mayor Piero Fassino - is particularly meaningful because it teaches the younger generations the taste of Good and responsibility. Every person always has the power to stem evil and help somebody who is persecuted based on unjust laws. The Righteous who saved human lives call us to our moral duty to prevent genocide and every kind of mass atrocity."

Torino thus responded to Gariwo's call for all municipalities to join European Day of the Righteous that will take place on 6 March.

Last year it was Florence City Hall to approve motion no. 296/2014, by which the City Council, given the establishment of European Day of the Righteous, called for celebrating "in all institutions in charge in all towns all over the world", to implement and safeguard the Garden of the Righteous of the Tuscan administrative centre, founded in April 2003.
