The Captains Regent of San Marino

Following are the words of support to European Day of the Righteous from the Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino.

The Regency renews its support to the celebrations of European Day of the Righteous, set up by the European Parliament to remember all the men and women who - by rescuing the persecuted - have opposed with a sense of their own personal responsibility any case of genocide, crimes against humanity and totalitarianism in the Twentieth and Twenty-first centuries.

As highlighted also in the remarks delivered on 31st Session of the Council of Human Rights of the Assembly of Human Rights that has recently been held in Geneva, Their Excellencies the Captains Regent wish to underline the will of the Republic of San Marino to keep on their international commitment to the development of a culture of peace and protection of fundamental human rights.

The Regency shares the urge to strengthen the memory of good, by seizing this occasion to remind that the identity of Europe is based on the key values of solidarity, respect of human life and justice, actualised by the deeds performed with courage, generosity and selflessness by European citizens even in the direst situations.
