Ms. Holland's imperfect Righteous

NY Times reviews movie In darkness

"The Jews had been hidden beneath the streets of Lvov by a Polish sewer worker, Leopold Socha, who was also a somewhat anti-Semitic Roman Catholic, and a petty thief with a prison record.“This guy was not a hero, yet he ended up doing the right thing, which to me is the true version of heroism” says producer David Shamoon, himself a Jew, whose family escaped Nazism making its way through the Middle East before moving to the US for his studies and then to Canada.

It's a touching movie about the "fantastic secret" hidden inside the hearts of those who decide to lend a helping hand to the persecuted who knock at their door.
