50 years of resistance in Tibet

1959 - 2009

March 10th 2009 will mark 50 years since Tibetans rose up to protest China's invasion of their homeland. It will also be one year since unprecedented protests broke out across Tibet showing China and the world that after 50 years of occupation, Tibetans are determined to be free.

Whereas China only accepts the New Years' Eve and the so called "Liberation" celebrations, the Tibetans want to commemorate their victims and courage to rebel.

Among the violations of human rights inflicted to Tibet by the People's Republic of China there are: colonization; exile for 130,000 Tibetans; "re-education sessions", that is beatings of the monks who refuse to abandon their religion; many thousands killings and arrests.

On March 9th, there will be a huge demonstration in Washington D.C. All over the world, then, on 10th you are invited to raise the Tibetan flag in your homes, public buildings, and wherever in your town. http://www.march10.org/
