The Pakistani Christian sentenced to death over blasphemy will not be pardoned according to her lawyer. The Country's Supreme Court followed President Zardari's will to provide for an appeal ruling that makes any clemency act superfluous.

Asia Bibi's death sentence upheld

Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini declared to an Italian online paper that the conviction of Asia BIbi is called off.

Frattini declared that "Italy required and obtained a new inquiry to be set up. Pakistan Minister of Religious Minorities, following incitations by our government, ordered a review of all acts of the investigation concerning her. I am confident the truth will emerge, and thus, as far as I know, that there has been an abuse of the Pakistani anti-blasphemy law, and hence the case will be shelved".

The new Sakinesh is a 37 years old Protestant Christian women. Asia Bibi was sentenced to hanging by the Punjabi Tribunal. Under the charge of blasphemy.
Pakistan is a Federal Islamic Republic whose population is estimated to be 75% Sunni, 20% Shi’a and 5% made of believers in other religions ranging from Christendom to Hinduism.
Asia Bibi was convicted after a lively discussion with some colleagues. The woman, a peasant worker, was then beaten up, insulted and shut in a room.
There are numerous calls for her release from all over the world.
