A coworker of "Charlie Hebdo" taken away by ambulance nurses
The satyrical weekly was known for publishing some comic strips about Mohammed. In 2011, to launch a provocation after learning that Islamist party Ennahda had won the polls in Tunisia, the editors "named" Mohammed as director and the magazine went out with the heading changed into "Sharia hebdo". The weekly was then hit by a Molotov cocktail.
Now the paper was savagely assaulted. According to Le Monde, on 7 January at 11.30 the editorial board was attacked by a commando that would then steal a police car to escape. The death toll is of at least 10. Terrorists shooting with heavy fire weapons shouted they wanted to "avenge the Profet". Among the victims designers Cabu, Wolinski and Tignous and the director of Charlie Hebdo, designer Charb, author of the last prophetic strip appeared on the weekly paper - stating that "No attack yet in France", and representing a terrorist who answers “Wait. We still have all January to send our greetings”.
President François Hollande announced he is heading to the place of the tragedy. The Government will be summoned urgently at 14.
