It matters to me a lot to underline that after the terrible attack in Nice today’s initiative, which my association Gariwo has promoted together with our Embassy, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is an act of great moral courage.
Faraaz Hussein, the young man that during the attack in Dacca gave up saving himself in order not to desert his friends, is among the Righteous honoured at the Garden in Tunis. Here is his mother's testimony, that has been read during the opening ceremony of the Garden.
In our times marked by conflicts and clashes, a great moral and political value is retained by the creation of a new Garden of the Righteous in Tunis - an initiative stemming from the cooperation between Gariwo and Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs. The next inauguration of a Garden of the Righteous, inside the lawn of the Italian Embassy of Tunis, in the presence of the Tunisian and Italian authorities, comes few days after the tragic slaughters perpetrated by jihadist terrorists tied to the ISIS.
Mohamed Naceur ben Abdesslem is the Tunisian guide who rescued a group of Italians during the terror attack at the Bardo Museum. To him we will dedicate a tree in the Garden of the Righteous of Tunis. He really wishes he could meet the people, with whom he experienced that dreadful time.

The Arab spring started in 2011 in Magreb and the anti-governmental demostrations in Iran and then Syria, Yemen, Bahrein and other Mid-Eastern countries, with the subsequent bloody crackdown, have marked the political defeat of the Qaedist movement led by Osama Bin Laden, who in the meanwhile was traced in Pakistan and killed in the assault of the US special forces inside his hideout.
September, 11 2001 had caused a sharp turn in the relations between the West and Islam, characterized by a growing mistrust in the reciprocal perception.
