The celebrations of European Day of the Righteous saw the participation of numerous Italian towns, which, through meetings, conferences, shows, documentaries, books and planting of new Gardens, have paid tribute to all those who have fought and still fight against genocide and to defend human dignity.

The Garden of the Righteous of Perugia was inaugurated on 6 March 2016 in the garden of the Library of San Matteo of the Armenians.
Valeria Solesin, the italian Emergency volunteer who died on 13 November 2016ì5 during the Bataclan massacre in Paris, Giulio Regeni, the italian activist killed in Egypt on February 2016 and Berta Còceres, Honduran environmental activist killed on 3 March , were commemorate during the ceremony.
