Europe's blood fetish

Bloggers have adopted the word to denounce the ‘us first’ attitude of Europeans towards immigration. They do not, however, dwell on the second aspect, which, by calling into question the individual nature of rights and prerogatives, can also weigh heavily on immigrants. If a right is awarded to a community, there is a high likelihood that individual freedom will not increase, but may instead be curtailed.
